Neuromodulation During Relaxation
Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS)
In tDCS, you place two sponges soaked in saline that each surround an electrode on your scalp. A weak electrical current (1 to 2 mA) then passes between the electrodes to modulate the brain.
To position the device, put the pre-soaked pads in the strap, place the strap on your head, and plug in the wires to the stimulator box. It is important to make sure the back of the strap is over your inion (a place at the back of your head we will teach you to identify) and the pads are comfortably off your forehead and the strap is aligned so that the arrow points to your nose. You'll feel some tingling during the 30-minute stimulation. We will work with you over video so you can do this in your home, and detailed instructions can also be found in the printed manual you were sent.
We need to keep track of your stimulation. We will give you stimulator codes and you will give us codes that tell us how well your sessions are going during your therapy course. Click below to download additional forms for tracking your sessions.
General Information About TDCS and other neuromodulation
This is the device we use. Whereas there are people make their own devices, we do not recommend it.
